First Impression Of The Ailunce HD2 DMR Handheld Radio.
The HD1 is a good radio, and Retevis improved on an already successful design, notably adding a USB-C port and Bluetooth. In this video I show you the radio compared to the previous model, along with a bit of DMR channel programming.

    Thanks for the video Gil. One simple way to see if there is common mode current in the coax is simply touching it and/or moving it while looking at the VNA. If the curve changes just by touching or moving the coax you know you have common mode currents. From experience it’s almost always necessary to have a 1:1 balun / choke in almost any kind of antenna to eliminate cmc. In verticals with radials on the ground you can get away without it but .. losses..

    • @RadioPrepper
      @RadioPrepper 5 дней назад

      Good question. Depends how bad those emissions are for me. Out of bands use for me is ill advised. No need to draw attention or create problems to other services. Otherwise, harmonic limit numbers are a legal construct, but there for a reason, so IMHO it's good to avoid worst-case scenarios.

    He usado esta version -micro W3EDP con buen resultado en 20m . Contactos en la primera prueba con : Rusia, Islandia, Finlandia ... @ 2500 km en el primer intento con solo 10W. Buenos reportes. La antena diispone de otro pico de resonancia alrededor de 10m que es muy sensible al uso de un contrapeso.Este contrapeso es de longitud muy corta y está conectado en el punto de salida "fría" del balun 1:4 , donde se une con la linea abierta de 450 ohmios. Con este contrapeso, puedo despazar el pico de 10m y llegar a 11m con una pérdida lógica de rendimiento.También afecta, pero en menor medida al pico de 20m. La zona intermadia entre picos es adaptable con ATU, pero no espero grandes cosas. El contrapeso es un punto a favor. Comentar además que el balun 1::4 mejor que sea de corriente (dos toroides separados) ya que la version de voltage ( un toroide común) no limita la corriente de modo común generada por la asimetría de la antena. En cualquier caso un choke RF siempre es más que recomendable, es necesario. Buena relización y excelente video.

    Merci pour la francisation du sujet ; ) J'ai quand même une question : Je ne parle pas que de ce cas là, mais est-ce que la section du fil utilisé a son importance pour une antenne ?

      Pas beaucoup, ça change juste un peu la bande passante et l'impédance. J'utilise du fil très fin..

    I wouldnt use these for prepping. I bet even with GPS off there is a backdoor way of turning it on letting some scrotes find you, your stuff and family.

    There is an option to add your amateur radio callsign. Is that what disables encryption? It seems like in the USA you are better off not using the callsign which isn’t required on 915Mhz even if you have one.

      Yes, nobody should use their callsign on 915, the same way you would not use your HAM callsign on CB.

    You mentioned having something like 9 or 10 meshtastic devices. Do you have 1:1 ratio pairing to a single phone/tablet per meshtastic node or do you have multiple coexisting on the same phone?

    • @RadioPrepper
      @RadioPrepper 24 дня назад

      1to1 to a single phone.

      @@RadioPrepper I’m following. Each meshtastic device can only be paired with one phone/tablet/computer. I’m not clear on the opposite. Can you have multiple meshtastic devices paired to a single phone/tablet/computer? Thanks for your educating video and taking the time to answer questions.

    How much more distance is it possible to achieve switching from Long Range fast/fast to Very Long Range/Slow? I live in a crowded city so looking for ways to achieve better distance even if it's way slower.

      Not sure but the problem is that everyone is on LongFast but for a private channel, you could try slower, but not the minimum, which doesn't really work.
